We intend to broaden the concept of motherhood dealt with in our book: “Maternal female body. Medellín 1920-1957”, expanding it to the female experience of religion as nuns and their work as teachers in schools, since in these two functions vested on women by patriarchal reason can be analyzed the inventory of virtues that these two forms of female subjectivity should attain as another form of “motherhood” and as a subjugation device that unfolded over their bodies in order to maintain their potential restricted to the care and protection of the other, as an extension of their domestic chores.
