In this proposal we are using the IRAF software as a pedagogical tool to produce an alternative treatment to the concepts of optics, in relation to modern physics and quantum mechanics. We work around exercises on spectroscopy, which is a technique of great importance; in research and experimentation of many physics phenomena and that gave rise to various discoveries in science. We believe that there is a need for research in teaching physics in a continuous search for pedagogical strategies and techniques that encourage students to understand.
