In order to improve reading comprehension in fourth-grade students in Roberto Velandia School, cognitive strategies with new Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) were developed. This research had a mixed approach. Quantitatively, a test was applied to 40 students to establish the level of reading comprehension; qualitatively, educational action-research was applied, which facilitated reflective processes on different problems observed in the institution. The collected information was used to design and implement four workshops based on cognitive reading strategies through a blog. As a result of this research, it was demonstrated how reading comprehension could be significantly improved through the use of ICT resources, developing the cognitive strategies.
