This chapter review describes some of the plants potentially toxic for cattle in Colombia. These plants include those affecting the blood, cardiac muscle, liver (either by causing hepatocellular necrosis or by inducing intrahepatic cholestasis), digestive, urinary, nervous, musculoskeletal systems and connective tissue. Plants containing systemic poisons (such as cyanogenic glycosides) are also mentioned. Research is needed to determine not only which plants represent a potential risk for animal health and production but also their phytochemistry and toxicology.
