Objective Analyze the behavior of gunpowder injuries had Cali in holiday season from 2002 to 2010. Methods We reviewed 344 cases of burned gunpowder Cali resident, reported to the surveillance system in holiday season (December 1 to January 1) from 2002, when it issued a law which controlled the use of gunpowder, to the 2010.Review their evolution during the period and analyzed the groups affected by age, sex, affected area. Results Since 2007 there has been a decrease in the burned gunpowder. The children made up 54% of cases and 43% of all cases occur in the celebration of the end of the year. Conclusions Although Law 670 of 2001 established controls to safeguard children from the damage caused by gunpowder, yet remain the most affected despite the reduction in the number of cases since the year 2007. What the study is adding to the field Provides a methodology for evaluating policies related to the burned gunpowder and the results obtained in Cali after the implementation of a national policy.
