This article explores some significant changes on the underlying activity in recent developments of economic theory. Particulary, it focuses on the reevaluation of pretensions of pure posi tivist economic theory, on scientific accuracy and doctrinary chauvinismo Upon these basis, the article attempts to provide some considerations to define the main streams of an economic theory for the next century.
